Film Review: SEX AND THE CITY 2
starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Catrall, Kristen Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Chris Noth, John Corbett, Liza Minelli, Mario Cantone, Willie Larson
directed by Michael Patrick King
For those of us who adore SATC and refer to the complete series as our bible, they can make 10 more of these movies and we would never stop showing up on opening night and cheering as the credits begin. The sequel to 2008's big-screen version of one of TV's most popular, award-winning and celebrated series, is exactly what one would expect. Lots of costume changes, lots of X-Rated puns, shoes, cocktails, raunchy sex scenes & a big gay wedding. Highly unnecessary, totally mindless and nowhere near as good as its predecessor, SATC2 is perfectly acceptable just for the simple fact that it reminds us why we love the franchise so much in the first place. It's all about FUN! There are still a ton of laughs and while this film feels like a TV mini-series and not so much a big-screen movie, it still entertains from start to finish and causes the same vibe of celebrating friendship with some of your favorite girls. I look at this sequel like a shopping lesson: you might not NEED it, but you always WANT something that makes you feel good.
My Grade: B
