30 Second Reviews: Bullock's Oscar Performance Hits DVD, Outshining Anything Else this Week

IN THEATERS:

Shutter Island
is absurd and whackadoodle. Despite some fascinating imagery, I didn't find it one bit suspenseful or creepy and this so-called "shocking twist" was not all that surprising or clever. I left feeling like I hated it, but then thought it about it a little more and decided it didn't suck that bad... it's just not all that good either.
My Grade: C

ON DVD:

The Blind Side will make you stand up and cheer when you bring it home Tuesday on DVD. See why Sandy Bullock won every award this year and prepare to laugh, cry, clap and wanna play football. If you haven't seen it yet you'd might as well just buy vs rent - trust me, you'll wanna own it.
My Grade: A

New Moon is better than Twilight and from the looks of the Eclipse trailer is gonna be the best of the bunch until Breaking Dawn comes out. They better not fuck it up!
My Grade: B+

Did You Hear About the Morgans?
No? That's because Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant didn't spark up enough laughs or chemistry to get you to give a damn.
My Grade: C-

The Princess and the Frog finally introduces us to the first african-american Disney princess! Hip Hip Hooray! It's cute!! But lacking in regard to the rest of the princess movies :(
My Grade: B

Brothers features three great performances from Tobey Maguire, Jake Gyllenhaal and Natalie Portman but the film moves like molasses and feels like it is missing something.
My Grade: C+

ON TV:

Jessica Simpson's Price of Beauty
puts the consistently picked-on pop singer back where she belongs - on a reality show! Stop trying to be a singer! The worst part about the show is the theme song she recorded for it. I actually really like the theme and think its sweet and love all three of the personalities the show follows.
